Zoha Nassif creates her art out of awe and admiration

Every subject captivates her with its natural beauty, its virtues, and its color palette. With a high sensitivity to the authentic, the dark side just as much as the light, she won’t depict a nicer-looking version of her subject – its genuine grace is enough.

But the hardest part is kept for the depth that comes with authenticity: the sheer, raw, unfiltered emotions. Not even the slightest hint of suffering is brushed off.

Each of these traits can be best expressed through a distinctive medium. From hyper-realism to abstract, canvas to wood, Zoha takes on new fields and new challenges to quench her thirst as a polyvalent artist.

The themes revolve around life experiences and challenges, power, love and spirituality. One look at her figure’s gaze, human or animal, can reveal its innocence, its charm, its ferocity.

Zoha lives and works in Beyrouth, Lebanon

She was born in 1965 in Zahle, on the eastern stretch of the country. After graduating from high school in 1982, she undertook her artistic journey at the Atelier de Sèvres in Paris. She then pursued her education at the École de Communication Visuelle where she graduated in Graphic Arts, while also mastering painting.

In 1996, she returned to Lebanon with a longing to build on these learnings, and envisioned high-standard academic education for artists in a place they could call home. This is how La Maison des Artistes was born in 1999.
